Three captains were picked for the season #7 Christina R, #21 Deana G and #22 Lorie M After they were picked the captains were asked three questions:
1. Being a captain means to me
2. My responsibility to the team is
3. What my fans can expect out of me
Here are some of their responses
Being a captain, in my opinion, means being a solid leader. One who dispenses knowledge, give and receives help, advice, and constructive criticism. One who maintains respect from others in all situations and one who consistently sets a positive example.
My responsibility to the team is to be a positive influence, to share my knowledge and experiences, and to give 110% to making our team champions in every way possible.
My fans can expect lots of oohs and aahs, personality, and appreciation.
#21 Deana
Collectively we (Deana, Christina and I) have been given the responsibility to lead this team. A Captain must be an effective communicator for and with the team. I intend on being the kind of captain who leads not only as a spokes person for the team but one who leads by example (on and off the field) and encourages their team mates to give 100% day in and day out as I match them every step of the way by doing the same. Being Captain is an honor. However, it will also be a challenge that I humbly and gladly accept.
My responsibility to the team is to be dependable. I must be a solid rock for my team. As the Amazons' roster is full of very talented athletes, I believe it is also my responsibility to help promote team unity and help keep the team morale as high as possible so that victory is only a matter of mental focus and physical toughness. I also feel accountable for being an ear to the team and then a mouthpiece for the team to the coaches and staffs as we (the captains) represent the team as a whole.
My fans can expect to see a lot of growth from me. Where last year they saw more of a Flashy Rookie Running back who was all about celebrating every single TD, this year they will see a more grounded more seasoned and focused player who is there to get a job done...of course with the occasional Celebration or two with my teammates. LOL. This year Fans can expect a Victorious Amazon Team!
